Minions!

I've crossed off a few things from the quilty "to do" list I posted last time, but I couldn't cross this off because I forgot to include it in the list.  I finished binding the Minions quilt.

My version of the Minions quilt from Quiltmaker's October 2015 issue

I finished the top in early December, but wasn't sure how I wanted to quilt it.  I thought about outlining all the detail in the panel, but honestly, this isn't a quilt I wanted to devote that much work to!  I considered all over swirls, and those almost won, but then I thought of circles.  Concentric circles like targets seemed appropriate for Minions somehow, one target on each Minion.  I filled in the rest of the space in the panel with a large cross hatch, stitched in the ditch around the plain borders, and outline quilted the patches in the pieced border.

Daughter is pleased, and watched a movie last night to curl up on the couch and break it in.  She isn't the only one to stake a claim though!

If anyone knows how to stop Blogger from looading pics sideways, please share!

And here is the quilt in its natural state and habitat.  It is very rarely draped artistically over anything!

Again, loaded sideways.  Sigh!

On a totally unrelated topic: have you visited Sandra's blog Musings of a Menopausal Melon recently?  She is co-hosting a blog hop about all things Craftsy (yes Craftsy, not crafty). Pop over here for a list of links to bloggers who are reviewing all sorts of goodies (classes, fabric, kits, patterns) available on Craftsy.com.  They just might convince me to buy some of the classes I've been looking at but hesitating to buy.  There are prizes too!  Start hopping to enter the giveway!

  1. Some of my favourite quilts are ones like these and besides I like a quilt when it's being used. Hadn't notice the sideways pix, just thought mine was looking a bit arty. If it's happening to everyone, Blogger knows and will be working to fix it.

  4. Very cute! I haven't had any trouble with pictures loading sideways. I don't know if this helps or not, but I always drag the photos I'm going to post onto my desktop and then select them from there instead of selecting them from the actual "Photos" section. I can't remember why, but DH had me start doing that a long time ago.

  5. Your Minions are adorable! Sounds like a very popular little quilt, glad it is being used a lot! It is fun to just make a happy little quilt sometimes.

  7. The quilting on the minions is very nice, but I keep wondering how you pieced that cute border. On the pictures, I wonder if you are loading them at the largest size possible, and then they are too wide to fit in the space provided, causing them to turn sideways. I usually load pictures in "small" and then move up to large if there's space. Just thinkin'.....I surely don't know the answer! (None of that makes any sense, does it?!) ---"Love"

  8. Do you edit your photos at all before posting them on blogger? I know my camera will sometimes get confused on which way is up if I'm shooting straight down. If I rotate my photo in the editor, I need to make sure to save the rotated photo before uploading it to blogger, or blogger will grab the original (bad) orientation of the photo. You can sometimes fix this online (I think - with chrome and google), but I haven't tried that recently.

  9. Such a cute quilt! I am glad to hear that it is already getting some good use. I try to drape quilts artfully, but that gets undone very fast!

  10. What a great quilt. I've been so tempted to get some of those fabrics myself, I've got a few minion lovers here would be more than thrilled with such a quilt.
